On 17 September 2018, Ambassador Jukr Boon-Long delivered the opening remarks at the Thai Business Association of Myanmar (TBAM)’s 14th Morning Talk on “Regulation Permitting Retail/Wholesale Business and MyCo Registration.” Guest speakers included Ms. Cho Thet Mu, Deputy Director of the Department of Trade, Ministry of Commerce, Myanmar, and Mr. Myo Min, Director of the Company Affairs Division at the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA).

In his opening remarks, Ambassador supported TBAM’s series of events, which ensure that its members operate their businesses in accordance to the latest policies, explores new opportunities for trade and investment, and aims to strengthen Thai-Myanmar business collaboration. The topic for TBAM Morning Talk 14 was timely as the Ministry of Commerce issued Notification 25/2018 on “Wholesale and Retail for Joint Venture” on 9 May 2018, and the Myanmar Companies Law, including the Myanmar Companies, MyCo online registration for companies, came into effect on 1 August 2018. Both developments reflect the Myanmar government’s policy on liberalization and digital economy, as the government is gradually opening up more sectors to foreign investment, and developing Myanmar’s digital platform. Thailand views Myanmar as a Natural Strategic Partner and stands ready to work with Myanmar in moving towards a 4.0 economy, or a value based economy driven by innovation for the digital era.
