           The Royal Thai Embassy, Yangon, Myanmar in collaboration with the Pollution Control Department (PCD) of Thailand will co-organise the Technical workshop and study visit on Transboundary Haze Pollution Management Between Thailand and Myanmar, during 18 - 27 January 2024 in Thailand.

           The said technical workshop is a part of the Royal Thai government’s effort in solving the problem of Transboundary Haze Pollution Management, widely known as PM 2.5, and one of actions taken following the tripartite leadership meeting among Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Thailand held in 7 April 2023, in which the collaborative approaches were discussed in order to resolve the transboundary haze issues, and Thailand expressed the readiness to share the knowledges and experiences to the Myanmar side on the utilisation of satellite technology for fire hotspot monitoring, land use benefits, as well as highland agricultural management under the "CLEAR Sky Strategy" of the Royal Thai Government

           In this workshop which will be participated by 20 Myanmar officials, who are currently working in the field related to Haze Pollution Management in the areas of Thailand-Myanmar border and 10 Thai officials, the Royal Thai Embassy and the Pollution Control Department are also in close cooperation with Thailand’s Department of Climate Change and Environment, Meteorological Department Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA), Asian Institute of Technology, Thaicom Public Company Limited, and the Thai Health Promotion Foundation. The Embassy and organisations concerned sincerely hope that the workshop will help alleviating the problem of PM 2.5 in both Thailand and Myanmar in the near future.
