On 26 February 2015, H.E.         Mr. Pisanu Suvanajata, Ambassador of Thailand to Myanmar attended and witnessed the signing ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) and the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI). The MoU is aimed at promoting cooperation between Thailand and Myanmar in digital economy by transfering of knowledge and technology in software  development and enchancing human resources in Myanmar using Thailand’s ISO/IEC 29110 standard. This will lead to organizational and process development of Myanmar private sector and will particularly increase efficiency and competitiveness of Myanmar SMEs.

The signing of MoU on ISO/IEC 29110 is part of the event called “Leapfrogging Digital Economy Together and Thailand – Myanmar Private Sectors Cooperation” organized by the FTI, Thai – Myanmar Business Council, Royal Thai Embassy, GS1 Thailand, Software Industry Promotion Agency (SIPA), Ministry of ICT of Thailand, and the UMFCCI during 26 – 28 February 2015. This event included the Signing of MoU between the Thai – Myanmar Business Council and the Myanmar – Thai Business Council on Development Cooperation, business matching, networking reception etc.

There was also a discussion panel on trade and investment in Myanmar where experiences and ideas were shared by representatives from the Thai – Myanmar Business Council, Thai Business Association in Myanmar (TBAM)  and Myanmar Investment Commision (MIC) which provided insights about current business opportunities in Myanmar and all necessary information for Thai prospective businessmen and investors to Myanmar.

These events, as mentioned in Ambassador Pisanu’s welcoming address at the networking dinner at the Royal Thai Embassy, are crucial and will bring about a strengthened business partnership between Thailand and Myanmar. Ambassador also reiterated that the Royal Thai Embassy is always prepared to render full support to facilitate both Thai and Myanmar private sectors to work closely together in order to move forward together for mutually prosperous future.
