On 30 June 2017, H.E. Mr. Jukr Boon-long, Ambassador of Thailand to Myanmar, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, State Counsellor of Myanmar, in Nay Pyi Taw to introduce himself on his recent assumption of the Ambassadorial post.
While in the Myanmar capital, Ambassador Jukr also took the opportunity to pay courtesy calls on H.E. U Win Khaing, Union Minster for Construction, on 29 June 2017, H.E. U Pe Zin Tun, Union Minister for Electricity and Energy, and H.E. U Thein Swe, Union Minister for Labour, Immigration and Population, on 30 June 2017.
In these separate courtesy calls, the Myanmar dignitaries expressed warm welcome to Ambassador Jukr, and reiterated the excellent state of relationship between Thailand and Myanmar. The two sides also exchanged views on bilateral cooperation in various areas of common interest, including exchange of high-level visits, connectivity, border crossing regime, labour management, and energy.
Next year, Thailand and Myanmar will mark the 70th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. A series of activities is being planned by the two countries to celebrate this important event.
