Thai Ambassador to Myanmar addressed an Opening Remarks at the Ear Care and Surgery Mobile Service at Hpa-an General Hospital, Kayin State, Myanmar

Between 8 – 10 July 2019, the Royal Thai Embassy in Yangon, in collaboration with the Rajavithi Hospital, Department of Medical Services and Rural Ear Nose and Throat Foundation, organized a mobile unit to provide medical treatment to patients with ear diseases and hearing disability, by conducting ear surgery and hearing test to Myanmar patients free of charge at Hpa-an General Hospital, Hpa-an district, Kayin State. Throughout these 3 days, 371 patients with ear diseases received medical check-ups and treatments. 54 patients underwent ear surgeries, 110 people performed hearing tests and 14 patients received hearing aids. On the last day of mission, the team of doctors donated the remaining medicines to the hospital for further use.

At the Opening Ceremony on 8 July 2019, H.E. Mrs. Suphatra Srimaitreephithak, Ambassador of Thailand to Myanmar, H.E. U Saw Chit Khin, the speaker of the state Hluttaw, H.E. U Than Naing, the State Minister of Planning and Finance, H.E. U Bo Bo Waing, The Minister of Social Affairs of Kayin State warmly welcomed the group and medical personnel from Thailand and honourably attended the ceremony. In this regard, the Ambassador of Thailand to Myanmar emphasized the significance of the project which promotes people-to-people relations and reflects the natural strategic partnership between Thailand and Myanmar. Kayin state, especially, is located next to the border with Thailand where the 2 friendship bridges are built. Hence, the State could serve as a gateway to multi-dimensional collaborations between both countries including trade, investment and transportation. Moreover, Kayin state will be a hub for Myanmar to connect with other countries in the region.
