H.R.H. Crown Princess of Thailand made goodwill visit to the Thai-Myanmar Friendship School in Nay Pyi Taw

On 5 October 2015, H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, Crown Princess of Thailand, paid a goodwill visit to No. (15) Basic Education Primary School, Thapyay Hla, Pyinmana in Nay Pyi Taw, under the Thailand-Myanmar Friendship School Project.  H.R.H. the Princess  was warmly welcomed by H.E. Dr. Thant Shin, Deputy Minister for Education and high ranking officials from Ministry of Education.

  Upon learning of the Friendship School Project, H.R.H. the Princess kindly embraced it under Her Royal Patronage with additional support for the School, including set-up of first-aid room equipped with 2 beds, medical supplies and equipment, as well as provision of stationery, sports gears, school uniform, and stainless mugs for all schoolchildren to help promote personal hygiene. 

H.R.H. the Princess also graciously handed over to the School new playground which was sponsored by the Thai-Myanmar Association for Friendship and PTT, the water purifier and water tank supported by Phol Dhanya Plc. and Aekar Co.,Ltd., as well as anti-lice shampoo and mosquito repellent coils donated by Sherwood Chemical Co.,Ltd., all of which will help promote good health among schoolchildren.     

On this occasion, H.R.H. the Princess planted two Thapyay trees, as symbol of victory and progress for the School, as well as symbol of friendship between the two countries. 

The Royal Thai Government has been supporting the Thailand-Myanmar Friendship School Project since 2013 as part of the commemorative activities to celebrate the 65th Anniversary of the Establishment of Thailand-Myanmar Diplomatic Relations.  By upgrading the school facilities and promoting good health, hygiene and nutrition, it is hoped that this school can be a model school with conducive learning environment for children to develop physical and intellectual capacities as they are the future of the nation.

Thailand has pledged the continued support for education of Myanmar children and as a symbol of ever closer and more cordial ties between the two countries and peoples in the years to come.
