On 21 October 2015, the Royal Thai Embassy in Yangon hosted a Thai Brocade Exhibition and Auction for members of the International Cultural and Charity Group (ICCG) to help raise fund for Myanmar Red Cross Society (MRCS).

For this Exhibition, many pieces of beautiful Thai Brocades were specially brought in for the event, thanks to the generous support of Queen Sirikit Institute under the SUPPORT Foundation of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of Thailand.

Mrs. Thipayasuda Suvanajata, Spouse of Thai Ambassador, highlighted in her welcome remarks that for Thai people, the Thai Red Cross Society was part of their life since childhood, through many engaging activities such as being boy/girl scouts doing charitable work, maternal and child development pro-jects to reach out to people, and the much awaited annual Red Cross Fair which has been successful in raising funds for various activities undertaken by the Thai Red Cross.

Her Majesty Queen Sirikit was the Chairperson of the Executive Committee of the Thai Red Cross,    the position currently held by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.  Both of them have been working hard to reach out to potential donors, as well as initiated various projects to support disadva-ntaged people around the country, such as improvement of healthcare services, job creation and income gene-ration through promotion of local products, including handicrafts and fabrics that were brought for the event.

On this occasion, the MRCS members were invited to make introductory presentation to the audience to raise awareness of their presence and missions among local public and the diplomatic corps.

The response was overwhelmed and the auction was successful.  All items were auctioned off and in total, 8,000 USD was raised for the MRCS.

Later on 2 November 2015, Ambassador Pisanu Suvanajata, handed over the cash to MRCS. This fund will be used for the humanitarian purposes and other noble missions of the MRCS.
