Thai and Myanmar Volunteers Joined for ‘Big Cleaning Day’ activity at Nga Pyaw Gyun (Banana Island) village

The Royal Thai Embassy in Yangon, in collaboration with Thai-Myanmar alliance for Volunteerism (TMAV) organized the ‘Big Cleaning Day’ activity at Nga Pyaw Gyun (Banana Island) village, Ayeyarwaddy Region on 23 January 2016.

The activity is supplemental to the TMAV’s Project to comprehensively improve health, hygiene, nutrition and education at Nga Pyaw Gyun village  and aims to provide the relevant knowledge for village members, teachers and students. 

On this occasion, Ambassador Pisanu Suvanajata, with spouse, and other key volunteers joined the meeting with village committee to discuss about the sustainable and comprehensive plan for the village development. Afterwards, the volunteers were divided into small groups to clean and improve environment in the school area together with teachers and students. 

Beside the cleaning activity, a mobile dental checking for students from dental association and special English class for teachers and students were also organized. At the end,   the Ambassador presented certificates of appreciation to participating students and volunteers who have continuously contributed to this project.

Since May 2015, the Royal Thai Embassy and TMAV have jointly implemented the improvement project at Nga Pyaw Gyun village. As the project moves on, positive changes of this monastic school have emerged one by one, especially in areas of health care, sanitation, nutrition and English communication.  

The project  gets full support from not only all key members of the village, but  generous Thai and Myanmar volunteers who are enthusiastic in social responsibility and to contribute to the development in rural area of Myanmar.
