Capacity building for Myanmar mental health upgraded with assistance from Thailand

Royal Thai Embassy in Yangon, in collaboration with Rajanagarindra Institute of Child Development (RICD), Department of Mental Health, Ministry of Public Health, Thailand supported the group of delegation from Myanmar to attend the 4th CDMH Meeting on Developing the International Journal of Child Development and Mental Health, during 26 – 27 May 2016 in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

The meeting is a forum where experts, officials and personnel in mental health and child development fields can present their researches, exchange experiences, transfer new knowledge and learn best practices in this area from each other.

The Myanmar delegation, which consists of representative from Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, National League of Democracy’s Health Network, related organizations and associations, as well as major mental health agencies from Yangon and Mandalay, attended the meeting and symposium discussion throughout the programme that helped nurture their knowledge, techniques and skills in mental health development as well as fostered their network with experts in the field. The research presentations by 3 medical doctors from Myanmar were well received by participating audiences and experts.

Royal Thai Embassy has continuously provided assistance and collaboration with partners and agencies in Myanmar through series of project with a view to raise awareness and capacity building in mental health development and upgrade the quality of life of Myanmar people.
