On 4 April 2017, Ambassador Jukr Boon-long participated in the press conference entitled “Serving the Growth of Myanmar’s Plastic Manufacturers,” which was organized by Reed Tradex Company at Chatrium Hotel Yangon. Ambassador Jukr delivered the keynote speech on “The Thai Government’s Policy to Support Industrial Collaboration between Myanmar and Thailand.”

He emphasized Thailand’s policy to strengthen the economic partnership with Myanmar towards sustainable development by promoting close working relations between both government agencies and the private sector of both countries. Dr. Somkid Jatusripitak, Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand’s Economic Mission to Myanmar in February 2017, with Thailand’s economic ministers and CEOs of leading Thai companies, was cited as an example of such endeavours. In addition, Thailand supports industrial collaboration with Myanmar, especially in capacity building and the sharing of knowledge and experiences. This includes the establishment of the Plastics Institute of Thailand, the development of the plastics industry towards value-added and environmentally friendly products, as well as incentives to invest in eco-friendly plastics.

The press conference was attended by representatives from the Plastics Institute of Thailand, Reed Tradex Company, the Plastics Industries Association of Myanmar, and Myanmar media. Participants discussed the plastics industry in Thailand and Asia, opportunities in the Myanmar plastic market arising from economic reforms, the growth of the plastics industry and consumption of plastics in Myanmar, as well as increasing regional connectivity. Lastly, Reed Tradex Company invited Myanmar entrepreneurs to join the 26th InterPlas Thailand 2017: an international trade exhibition and conference on plastics and petrochemical manufacturing, which will be held at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC) during      21 – 24 June 2017.

The Royal Thai Embassy in Yangon supports the Royal Thai Government’s policy to promote economic cooperation with neighbouring countries. Our aim is for Thailand and its neighbours to develop and move forward together. For this reason, the Embassy has continuously supported activities on the exchange of knowledge and capacity building in various sectors in Myanmar.
