On 30 July 2025, the Ambassador of Thailand to Yangon, along with the diplomats and staffs at the Royal Thai Embassy, Yangon, Team Thailand and spouses, as well as members of the Thai community in Myanmar, participated in the “Royal Initiative Volunteers” activity to commemorate the auspicious occasion of the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua on 28 July 2025

The activity featured a donation of books and video media to the National Library of Myanmar (Yangon), graciously received by Dr. Kay Thi Aye, Director of the Library. This activity aimed to promote reading and learning opportunities for the people of Myanmar, particularly children and youth, thereby fostering a culture of lifelong learning.

The donated materials from the Embassy and the Thai community included:

  1. Books in Honour of His Majesty the King and the Thai Royal Family, presenting royal biographies, royal initiatives, royal development projects, and selected royal speeches and messages.
  2. Informative Books on Thailand, covering history, Buddhism, arts, culture, cuisine, traditional games, music, sports, and tourism.
  3. Publications commemorating the Anniversary of Thailand-Myanmar Diplomatic Relations, highlighting the close and longstanding ties between the two countries.
  4. Books on Thailand’s Foreign Affairs, Diplomacy, and Consular services, including biographies of prominent Thai diplomats.
  5. Books on ASEAN and Southeast Asian Studies.
  6. Other Literature in Thai, English, and Burmese.

In addition, the Embassy expressed support for the Library’s initiative to host weekly public film screenings every Saturday at 13:00 hrs., featuring films and documentaries in Burmese, English, and other languages, aimed at broadening public knowledge and cultural exposure. In support of this commendable effort, the Embassy contributed a six-episode documentary series in honour of His Majesty the King’s 6th Cycle Birthday Anniversary on 28 July 2024. The series highlights His Majesty’s contributions in six key areas: water resource management, community development, prison welfare project, education accessibility, volunteerism, and religious patronage.

Following the handover, the Library Director hosted a tour of the facility for the Ambassador and participants. The Embassy recognises the Library’s great potential as a partner in promoting people-to-people exchanges, particularly in the areas of education, language, and cultural cooperation, and looks forward to future collaboration.
