On 23 June 2015, Assoc. Prof. Naraporn Chan-o-cha, Spouse of H.E. Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of Thailand, opened the new building at No. (15) Basic Education Primary School, Thar Pyay Hla, Pyinmana in Nay Pyi Taw, under the Thailand-Myanmar Friendship School Project.  This auspicious event was witnessed by H.E. Dr. Aung Zaw Min, Deputy Minister for Education and high ranking officials from Ministry of Education.

  On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Naraporn planted a paduak tree, national tree of Myanmar, as a symbol of flourishing friendship between the two countries.  Afterwards, she toured around the new building to see the classrooms and other facilities, including dormitory for teachers from outside of Nay Pyi Taw, and multi-purpose room.

Assoc. Prof. Naraporn also presented to Daw Sabal Khaing, Headmistress, her personal fund and additional fund from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand/Royal Thai Embassy, which will be used for further development of the school.  Thanks to generous support of Thai companies and their Myanmar business partners, other donors were also present to hand over their support to the School, namely the Thai-Myanmar Association for Friendship, SCG, the Rich Gems and Modernform, Phol Dhanya Plc. and Aekar Co.,Ltd., Heliluck Aviation Services, and Royal Ace Trading.  The cash and material supports, including children’s playground, water purifying system, provided to the school will contribute to more conducive teaching and learning environments for children, as well as improved hygiene and sanitation.

The Royal Thai Government has been supporting the Thailand-Myanmar Friendship School Project since 2013 as part of the commemorative activities to celebrate the 65th Anniversary of the Establishment of Thailand-Myanmar Diplomatic Relations.  Thailand has pledged the continued support for the benefits of children and as a symbol of ever closer and more cordial ties between the two countries and peoples in the years to come.
