On 6th August 2015, the Royal Thai Embassy in Yangon, Team Thailand, as well as Thai businesses and the Thai Community in Myanmar joined hands to donate cash and emergency relief items to flood victims in Myanmar through the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement at Emergency Operation Center (EOC) in Yangon.

Daw Su Su Hlaing, Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, was present to receive the donation from the Thai Businesses and Thai Community, witnessed by Mr.Pisanu Suvanajata, Ambassador of Thailand to Myanmar. Also present were representatives from leading companies such as PTTEP, SCG, Berli Jucker, Krung Thai Bank, and Siam Premiere which also made donations on this occasion.

Ambassador Pisanu assured that Thailand always stood ready to help Myanmar flood victims    both in emergency relief and post-flooding rehabilitation in the longer term so that they could get back their livelihood and return to normal life

Daw Su Su Hlaing expressed her appreciation for the generous support of the Royal Thai Government and the Thai Community which complemented the efforts of the Government of Myanmar in helping the people affected by floods in many areas as the current flooding situation was one of the worst the country ever experienced.

Donation of cash and emergency relief items from Thailand to Myanmar truly reflects the close and cordial relationship between the two countries.  Like members of the same family, Thai people are always ready to provide any assistance to Myanmar without delay when they learned of this natural disaster. This occasion was interested by mass media including printed media and television.
