Royal Thai Embassy On Behalf of the Thai Citizens Donated Cash and Various Items for the Flood Victims in Myanmar

On 17 August 2015, Mr. Chainarong Keratiwutwong, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission, Royal Thai Embassy, Yangon handover donations for the flood victims in Myanmar from the Friends in Need “PA” Volunteers Foundation Thai Red Cross, Ministry of Interior of Thailand, Mae Fah Luang University, and the Thai Community in Myanmar to H.E. Daw Su Su Hlaing, Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement at the Emergency Operation Center in Yangon.

Donations consisted of 9 big trucks of survival bags, clothes, beddings, mosquito nets, tents, lamps, and hygienic chlorine powder sent directly from Thailand via Mae Sot – Myawaddy border crossing.

Mr. Chainarong assured that all sectors in Thailand will stand along with Myanmar helping flood victims. He emphasized that the Government, civil societies, monks, and various organizations showed willingness to support helping hands to the flood victims. Assistances provided to Myanmar reflects the close and cordial relationship between both countries.

H.E. Daw Su Su Hlaing expressed gratitude to the Royal Thai Government and all Thai citizens for donations made to the flood victims and ensured that all items will be delivered in due course. H.E. Daw Su Su Hlaing hopes that Thailand will continuously support Myanmar in the area of rehabilitation.

Donations made by Thailand since the beginning of the flood reflects the close ties between both countries and   was acknowledged throughout the country through the local print and television media.
